What the app stores, and where

Everything you enter is written to a single encrypted file on your own phone. That includes:

• the days you log, their type, shift times and overtime hours;
• your pay rate, overtime rates, deductions, bonus and payday;
• the amounts you enter when checking a payslip;
• a photograph of a payslip, if you take or choose one;
• your name, employer and work permit number, if you fill them in. These are optional, they are never shown on screen, and they appear only on a record you export yourself.

The file is encrypted with a key held in the phone's own secure storage. If someone copies the file off the phone, they get ciphertext.

What the app does not do

• There is no account and no sign-in.
• There is no server. We have no copy of your record and no way to read it.
• Your record is never uploaded, synced or backed up to the cloud. Android's own cloud backup is switched off for this app on purpose.
• We do not sell or share your data, because we do not have it.

Advertising

The app shows banner advertisements supplied by Google AdMob. This is how the app pays for itself. Ads appear on the home and record screens only, and never on the screen that compares your payslip, nor on any document you export.

To serve those ads, Google may collect and process:

• your device's advertising identifier;
• your IP address, and an approximate location derived from it;
• device and app information, such as the model and Android version;
• interaction with the advertisement itself.

Your pay record is not part of this. The advertising code has no access to what you have logged, and nothing you enter in TwetTat is sent to Google or to anyone else.

Google's handling of this data is described in How Google uses information from sites or apps that use our services. You can reset or delete your advertising identifier in Android under Settings → Privacy → Ads.

When the phone has no internet connection, no advertisement is requested and nothing is sent. The app is fully usable in that state.

Permissions the app asks for

• Internet. To fetch advertisements. Nothing else uses it.
• Notifications. For the optional evening reminder to log the day. Asked for only when you turn the reminder on.
• Run after restart. So that reminder survives a reboot.
• Camera and photos. Only if you choose to attach a photograph of a payslip. The photograph is stored inside the app's own encrypted file.

Files you export

You can export a backup of your record, and a monthly PDF. Both are created only when you ask for one, and both are handed to Android's share sheet so that you choose where they go.

These two files are not encrypted. That is deliberate: they exist so you can hand them to an advocate, a lawyer or a labour office, and a file nobody can open is no use to you. Once a file leaves the app it is yours to look after. The backup does not contain your screen-lock PIN.

Deleting your data

Because everything is on your phone, you delete it yourself: uninstall the app, or go to Settings → Apps → TwetTat → Storage → Clear data. There is nothing held anywhere else, so there is nothing for us to delete and no request you need to send us. Export a copy first if you want to keep it.

Children

TwetTat is made for working adults and is not directed at children.

Changes

If this policy changes, the date at the top changes with it, and the updated version appears here.
